⬤ Interview the user One person plays the user, the other interview him/her and takes notes, other(s) listen and write down on post-its the pains encountered. The role player must be fully empathic and 100% in the user’s shoes, even if it means being harsh or politically incorrect. ▶Notes ▶post-its with pains
⬤ Recreate the user’s jouney Using the notes, recreate the journey of the user, step by step, on a board. Put the post-its with the pains in place. ▶Step-by-step chart with post- its at the right place
⬤ Pick one pain and find a vision Only use one pain. Then, fin d the greater reason that drives you for adressing it. Write it as a simple sentence. A vision is no vague punchline. It is positive but it won’t please everybody. Take a stance. ▶A poster with one sentence.
Don’t assist the client, empower him/her!
⬤ Find a solution Use brainstorming techniques (1min., magic wand …) to fin d the best ways to address the pain you have selected. Describe it into a sentence like “ Our solution is a ___ , that will allow – __ to achieve __ “ Be specific, avoid vague terms. See if it abide by your vision. Try to make it low tech. ▶Another poster with one sentence.

⬤ Compare with the market Use Google and fin d equivalents to your solution. Be open-minded: search in different fields. ▶A table comparing strenghts and weaknesses of the similar solutions you’ve found, and yours.
⬤ Make the action&finance plan What will be the main steps, starting tomorrow until 2 years from now for the project to be achieved and a success. What will be the creation costs, ongoing costs, main and secondary revenues during said time-period? Be realistic and plan to have some “kill switches“ ▶A 2-year schedule ▶A table with costs/revenues
⬤ Prototype and test on users Use drafting techniques (mock-ups, mood boards, story-boards … ) to obtain a glimpse of what your solution will look like. Ask future users what they think of it. It don’t have to be either beautiful or complete. Don’t defend your project, welcome your user’s critics. Don’t hesitate to switch. ▶A draft
